Russian Lawyer Challenges Authorities After Crashes
A Russian layer said Wednesday he will challenge Russia’s aviation authority on safety following several recent fatal crashes, including one that killed the country’s entire professional ice hockey team.
Lawyer Igor Trunov is expected to ask Russia’s Supreme Court to limit the Interstate Aviation Committee’s (IAC) authority, citing a conflict of interest between the IAC, which was formed in the early 1990s by a dozen former Soviet Union nations, and the IAC’s Russian-only staff.
Trunov said at a news conference that he would file an appeal on behalf of the relatives of the victims of the crashes.
