Airservices Australia has contracted with Sensis to deploy an Advanced - Surface Movement Guidance and Control System (A-SMGCS) at Perth Airport, the fourth airport in Australia to receive Sensis A-SMGCS. As part of the A-SMGCS deployment, Airservices will also be using Sensis VeeLo NextGen units for tracking and identification of vehicles on the airport surface and Sensis Aerobahn airport management tool for the efficient management of ground operations. Sensis A-SMGCS fuses data from multiple surveillance sources, including Sensis Multistatic Dependent Surveillance (MDS) multilateration, Sensis SMRi X-band radar and Sensis VeeLo NextGen vehicle locator units, to deliver accurate and reliable data to the Sensis Multi-Sensor Data Processor (MSDP). In addition to Perth, Sensis is deploying A-SMGCS at other Australian airports including Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. Sensis is also deploying MDS for wide area multilateration in Tasmania and enhanced terminal and precision runway monitoring at Sydney airport.
