Oman Implements Aeronautical Messaging
The German ATC specialist COMSOFT will build an Aeronautical Message Handling System in the Sultanate of Oman. The system is to be installed at the Seeb International Airport in Muscat. The main part of the new system, AIDA-NG, was developed originally for the European Communications Gateway in the 1990s. Since then, it has been installed at numerous air control centers all over the world. In Muscat, the system will be complemented with the end-user AFTN/AMHS terminal CADAS and a top-of-the-line AIS solution. Although most neighboring countries still work with AFTN, aeronautical centers such as Abu Dhabi, another COMSOFT customer, have already embarked on AMHS. The parties have agreed on a very tight project schedule in order to meet the demands resulting from strongly increasing traffic figures in the region COMSOFT's representative in Oman, Zawawi Trading Company LLC, will help implement the system.
