New D-G of EUROCONTROL
On 1 January, David McMillan took over as Director General of EUROCONTROL, the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation. Prior to his appointment at
EUROCONTROL, McMillan was the UK’s Director General of Civil Aviation,
a post he held from April 2004. He was also First Vice President of the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC), and the spokesman for Europe on aviation and environment at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). In his career, much of which has been spent with the UK’s Department of Transport, McMillan has worked in aviation, integrated transport and personnel. In his role as Director of Strategy and Delivery he was responsible for the Department’s delivery agenda, business planning and relations with the EU. He was also responsible for setting up the NATS public private partnership. He started his career in the diplomatic service.
