Sensis says its Seagull Technology Center will participate in a NASA project related to the
FAA’s Next Generation (NextGen) ATC development. The project will leverage Sensis’ extensive airspace modeling and simulation development capabilities to directly address current aviation issues. “Before changes are implemented in the NAS, concepts must be tested under the most realistic scenarios possible,” said Marc Viggiano, the firm’s senior vice president and chief strategy officer. “Sensis will be providing the tools needed to assess these NextGen concepts and provide data to help guide the decision regarding implementation.” The project, “Linking Airspace Modeling and Simulation Tools of Variable Fidelity and System Scope,” integrates previously created, specialized airspace and air traffic control (ATC) models and simulations into a system-wide simulation. The system will be employed to analyze potential future technology, infrastructure and procedural changes to increase safety, capacity and efficiency.
