Hijackers of Sudanese Jetliner Surrender

Two hijackers gave up to Libyan authorities a day after they hijacked a Sun Air Boeing 737, with nearly 100 passengers on board, shortly after takeoff from Nyala, Darfur’s largest city, on Aug. 26. The flight was bound for the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, until two knife-wielding men took control of the plane. It was later granted permission to land at Libya's isolated Kufra airport after running short of fuel. After negotiations with Libyan authorities, 95 passengers and two crew members were released - but six crew members were detained by the hijackers. Several hours later, the culprits were talked into surrendering, releasing the remaining crew members.
