Expedited Screening for Military Members Underway

U.S. military personnel may be able to go through the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) expedited screening procedures at airport checkpoints pending trial results from California-based Monterey Regional Airport, according to news reports.

The agency is conducing tests, which began on Tuesday, to determine if its screening technology is congenial to military personnel’s Common Access Cards (CAC), a Department of Defense (DoD) smart card used for identification of active-duty service members, according to the administration’s head, John Pistole.

The tests are not intended for a faster check-in process, at least not right away; however, officials aim to streamline military screening procedures as a part of the agency’s Pre-Check program, which expedites screening for registered travelers.
