American to Get More FAA Safety Inspections
FAA safety officials are increasing random maintenance and safety checks on American Airlines’ fleet, following Tuesday’s announcement that the airline’s parent company AMR Corp. filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
FAA managers ordered the inspectors to increase random checks of the airlines parked aircraft at airport gates along with overnight maintenance work. The increased vigilance will also cover the inventories of spare-parts.
FAA routinely performs checks in order to ensure public safety by focusing on maintenance programs, reports and reporting systems, FAA said in a statement.
