NEMSPA “Heliport Safety Sign Campaign”
During the Air Medical Transport Conference in San Jose, CA, the National EMS Pilots Association (NEMSPA) announced its “Heliport Safety Sign Campaign”. In its continuing efforts to advance safety in the air medical and aviation industries NEMSPA has introduced a new program to help enhance safety and reduce liability around heliports. This two-pronged effort combines both an educational program as to what signage a heliport should have and the development of a totally new safety sign created by NEMSPA. For the past seven months NEMSPA has worked closely with multiple EMS pilots, insurance underwriters, safety directors, flight departments, the FAA and the DOT to developed a heliport safety sign that meets the latest OSHA and ANSI standards which is targeted at alerting the general public to the hidden hazards in and around a heliport. This new sign design was created to help fill a significant void in safety for the helicopter industry and the general public. To order the new NEMSPA Heliport Safety Sign and to find out more about the organization go to the NEMSPA web site at http://www.nemspa.org . The National EMS Pilots Association is a non-profit professional pilot organization dedicated to serving rotary wing and fixed wing pilots involved in the air-medical transport industry.
