Reprieve for Sudan Air

AFP reports that Sudan Airways has received a one-month reprieve from the Civil Aviation Authority over its airworthiness, allowing it to resume flights immediately.
The CAA had briefly grounded flights of the national carrier because, it said, the airline does not meet international standards. However, the CAA has given Sudan Airways one month to tighten administrative and technical requirements in accordance with international regulations, a CAA official said. The reprieve was agreed during a meeting on Monday between Sudan Airways officials and the CAA director of safety Mohammed Hassan al-Mujammar. On June 10, a Sudan Airways Airbus A310 with 214 people on board burst into flames on landing at Khartoum airport, and at least 30 people burned to death.
