NTSB On the Case

A National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) team of four is investigating the Feb. 1 fatal crash of a Beechcraft King Air C90A near Mount Airy, North Carolina’s small airport. At about 11:30 a.m. EST the twin-engine turboprop (N57WR) on a business flight from the Polk County-Cornelius Moore Field in Cedartown, GA, to Mount Airy, crashed in a residential area. All six occupants of the airplane were fatally injured. There were no reports of injuries on the ground. News reports said the turboprop tried to land amid low fog, missed on its approach and crashed while trying to circle back for a second try.
