The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) will host an aviation safety, security and environment conference September 14-16, in Montreal. This event will be held in collaboration with McGill University and precedes the ICAO 36th General Assembly that runs September 18 – 28. This conference will bring together industry, governmental, scientific, legal, financial, and academic experts from around the world to address some of the most critical issues facing civil aviation in these times. Panels will address aviation technology, law and policy surrounding security and safety. Panelists will delve into how airports can enhance the margins of safety and security without impairing airline efficiency. Other speakers will address how the U.S. and European Union (EU) blacklists have impacted commercial aviation. Concerns about safety, security and the environment plague air transportation. Uncertainty surrounds insurance coverage and potential liability, government regulation and taxation. These developments impact airlines and all industries that rely on aviation – airports, aircraft manufacturers, suppliers and tourism. The conference will take place at the Hilton Montreal Bonaventure Hotel, which is across the street from ICAO Headquarters in Montreal.
