The NTSB's "Most Wanted" as a "Dead Listing"

Chairman Mark Rosenker described to Congress the NTSB's frustration at seeing their "most wanted" listings go into the FAA's "too hard" bin. The page of (mostly) "unacceptable responses" is at this link and you'll note that of the six items before the FAA from that List, five of them have been color-coded Red. That status indicates that the FAA is apparently going nowhere fast in pursuing the Board's recommendations or requests to address that subject. The issues cover improved safety in icing conditions, preventing runway incursions, improving audio and data recorders and requiring video recorders on aircraft, reducing accidents caused by human fatigue, and improving crew resource management for Part 135 (air taxi) operations. The Yellow coded item covering fuel vapor explosions in tanks is a certified FAA "slow mover" (it now being well over 10 years since TWA800 was blown out of the sky). What Rosenker had to say to the Congressional Hearing on June 6th, in specific detail, is at this link.
