Auckland New Zealand Runway Incursion

New Zealand's Transport Accident Investigation Commission (TAIC) is investigating a 29 May incident involving an Air New Zealand Beech 1900D and an Air Nelson SAAB SF340A. It was initially thought that both aircraft ended up on the active runway while the Beech 1900 was on late finals and cleared to land. However, whatever the circumstance, both aircraft ended up on the active runway surface in conflict and at the same time - leading to a definite breach of separation standards. Other details have not been forthcoming but two separate investigations will examine how the Air New Zealand Beech carrying 15 passengers landed on and/or then entered the same runway as the departing Air Nelson Saab aircraft with 19 on board. TAIC investigators will be reviewing CCTV footage, but at this stage it appears as though it was an ATC error.
