April 06, 2008 Belfast, ME SIAI-Marchetti SF-260 N601RH A/c was substantially damaged when impacted Penobscot Bay while maneuvering near Belfast Municipal Airport (BST), One fatality Witness observed a/c performing "barrel roll," heard "backfire," and then saw a/c pitch down and disappear. Diver who recovered body of pilot said that "everything forward of the rear seat was shredded." Only item resembling a/c was tailcone section.
April 07, 2008 Seale, AL Cartwright RV-10 N210HM Amateur-built a/c destroyed when impacted trees and terrain following a missed approach to Weedon Field Airport (EUF). Two fatalities A/c deviated 400 feet above its assigned altitude and 1,200 feet below on multiple occasions throughout the last 14 minutes of flight. Controller twice relayed low altitude alert warnings to pilot who did not declare emergency at any point. Search, both by ground and helicopter, hampered by low clouds, fog, and rain.
April 08, 2008 Redding, CA Cessna 177RG N1925Q Fight instructor said on first landing student failed to extend landing gear. Instructor didn't notice that landing gear was in the UP position on approach and that student had set the manifold pressure at 15 inches; the landing gear warning horn is set to activate at 13 inches of manifold pressure. No injuries Landing checklist was not accomplished. A/c landed with all three landing gear in retracted position.
April 12, 2008 Compton, CA Cessna 310Q N6231Q A/c experienced loss of engine power on final approach to Compton Airport. Four serious During forced landing, a/c descended into residential homes about 1/2 mile east of airport. Pilot and passenger seriously injured. Two occupants in house seriously injured. Deputy sheriff heard the engine rev up during approach.
April 15, 2008 Pueblo, CO Airbus Industrie A320-200 N497UA United Airlines a/c experienced severe turbulence approximately 50 nautical miles west of Pueblo. Returned to Denver International Airport (DEN). Seven minor Returned to Denver International Airport (DEN).
April 15, 2008 Goma, Congo McDonnell Douglas DC-9-51 9Q-CHN Hewa Bora a/c over ran Runway 18 crashed into a residential area after aborting takeoff. 40 fatalities, 111 serious A/c was destroyed along with several residential buildings. Of 86 passengers and eight crew, three passengers received fatal injuries.
April 15, 2008 Fort Carson, CO Air Tractor AT-602 N602AA Single-engine air tanker destroyed when impacted terrain while maneuvering near Fort Carson. One fatality A/c was operated by Fort Carson for public use firefighting and registered to Aero-Applicators, Sterling, CO. Pilot released load on top of ground contact and vehicle. After a second or two, contact heard maydays and "I'm going down."
April 15, 2008 San Dimas, CA Piper PA-23-160 N4080P Impacted terrain in Bonelli Regional Park following loss of control during takeoff initial climb from Runway 26L at Brackett Field Airport. Two serious Pilot reported that left engine lost power during the takeoff initial climb. ATC personnel reported that after takeoff, the a/c entered "erratic left turn" and crashed into side of hill.
April 15, 2008 Columbia, CA Cessna 150L N1364Q Impacted terrain following loss of control during takeoff initial climb from Runway 29 at Columbia Airport. No injuries Test flight of a/c before flown to Idaho. FI made a short field takeoff using 10 degrees of flaps and rotating at 55 mph. The a/c did not perform as expected and was not accelerating and climbing normally. Terrain was sloping up and were trees and power lines. FI turned left to avoid obstacles. Airspeed "too slow," and the a/c stalled and impacted ground in a nose down attitude.
April 17, 2008 Pontiac, MI Eclipse Aviation EA500 N539RM Experienced stuck rudder trim during simulated single-engine instrument approach to Bishop International Airport (FNT). No injuries Diverted and landed w/o incident at Oakland County International Airport (PTK).
April 18, 2008 Sonora, CA Cessna 150J N60760 Float equipped a/c was substantially damaged when impacted rugged terrain in Emigrant Wilderness Area. Two fatalities Digital photographic data recovered from wreckage indicated that a/c flew directly to Cherry Lake reservoir and made one landing approach. Then a/c reversed course and flew north into rising terrain. Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) signal received. Concerned friends of overdue flight commenced aerial search.
April 18, 2008 Logan, UT Hughes TH-55 N6358Z A/c sustained substantial damage when it rolled over following a loss of control while hovering at the Logan-Cache Airport. No injuries Gust of wind caught helicopter and pilot lost control. The helicopter rolled over and came to rest on its left side.
April 19, 2008 Carlsbad, CA Cessna 510 N54PV Citation Mustang sustained substantial damage following pilot's intentional ground loop maneuver during landing roll on Runway 24 at McClellan- Palomar Airport. No injuries Touchdown occurred far down runway. Pilot realized that despite braking and extension of speed brakes, a/c was going to continue off runway surface. He determined not be able to abort landing due to a/c's diminished groundspeed and elected to perform a 180-degree course reversal by rapidly turning the control yoke. A/c ground looped.
April 19, 2008 Groveland, CA Cessna C175A N6868E A/c experienced loss of engine power and collided with transmission wires following departure from Pine Mountain Lake Airport. One serious Pilot, also a certificated airframe and powerplant mechanic, recently installed new engine on a/c/ Pilot conducting high-speed taxi tests when a/c's groundspeed became excessive and lifted off runway, continued to climb. After a/c made 90-degree turn, engine experienced loss off power momentarily. Engine powered up again and then quit. A/c collided with transmission wires and descended nose-low onto road below.
April 20, 2008 Fairfax, IA Cessna 172L N9832G A/c operated by Green Castle Aero Club, sustained substantial damage during emergency landing when nosed over in field after loss of power. One serious, one minor Pilot received minor injuries and passenger received serious injuries.
April 20, 2008 Corning, AR Woods Challenger II, N213TW Single-engine amateur built a/c was substantially damaged when struck power lines and impacted terrain. One serious Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at time of accident. Personal flight was being conducted without flight plan.
April 26, 2008 Galveston, TX Supermarine Spitfire Two vintage WWII aircraft collided on the ground during air show. No injuries Spitfire apparently taxied into Hurricane. Accident did not result in significant damage.

April 27, 2008 Midlothian, VA Mooney M20M A/c impacted house after departing Chesterfield County Airport (FCI). Two fatalities, one serious Low cloud cover reported. Woman in house suffered severe burns. Destination was Franklin Municipal Airport (FKN).
April 28, 2008 Ukraine Mi-8 helicopter A/c operated by state gas company ditched while attempting to land on offshore Black Sea oil rig. 19 fatalities, one serious A/c reportedly clipped the platform with tail rotor.
