VEM Delivers Second A340

Twenty days after VEM Maintenance & Engineering delivered the first A340-500 aircraft, painted, to TAM Linhas Aéreas, the second airplane (PT-MSN) (same model) was also delivered. The second aircraft went through the same maintenance processes as the first, which included maintenance services and painting the aircraft according to the operator’s standards. All of the services were concluded in seven days and were performed in VEM's hangar in Rio de Janeiro. Besides the painting, work included the installation of internal and external placards, replacement of the carpets, inspecting and restoring the seats and in the lighting system, and a thorough inside cleaning. All of the work was done in conjunction with TAM's technical staff. VEM has begun to invest heavily in its certification for the Airbus fleet and is currently certified by the FAA (United States), for the A300, A300-600 and A310 models. EASA (European Union) certification for the A310 is expected by the first quarter 2008. For related news
