USAF Begins Work on Lancer Fleet
The first B-1 Lancer is now receiving upgrades at the Davis-Monthan AFB near Tucson, Ariz. The entire USAF active fleet of 65 swept-wing Lancers will be outfitted with updated targeting, which includes targeting pods that will allow the planes to send battlefield images to ground troops, and surveillance technology. Work will be conducted at the base’s Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group. The first Lancer should be completed in 11 days and the base will have as many as five Lancers at the base at any given time.
