FAA Seeks Penalty for Buffalo Crash Trainer

Gulfstream International Airlines is facing up to $1.3 million in fines from FAA for alleged maintenance and crew scheduling lapses. The airline, and its Gulfstream Training Academy affiliate, provided training for Marvin Renslow, the captain of Continental Connection Flight 3407. The regional jet crashed near Buffalo, N.Y. in February, resulting in the deaths of 50 people. The carrier, which has also trained many other commuter pilots, has been given 30 days to respond to the FAA allegations, which are backed by a Congressional investigation that uncovered falsified flight time records and crews working past federally regulated duty time limits. According to the Wall Street Journal, Gulfstream Intl Corp. CFO Robert Brown says the company will submit evidence refuting the alleged violations.
