TechOps Stretches Component Life

Delta’s TechOps maintenance division has reached an agreement to become the commercial MRO provider of Lambda Technologies’ low plasticity burnishing (LPB), which can extend the life of certain components, including landing gear, engine blades and propeller hubs. Delta is working with Cincinnati-based Lambda to apply LPB in order to eliminate some airworthiness directive (AD) inspections on MD88 main landing gear. David Garrison, TechOps managing director of engine and component maintenance, says the technology will help “reduce maintenance costs and maximize part life through enhanced resistance to fatigue and foreign object damage.”
