Teamsters Plan Appeal to Outsourcing Ruling
*Update* Representing more than 400 Frontier Airlines mechanics, the Teamsters union says it will appeal an Oct. 31 decision by U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Robert Drain that allows the carrier to break its contract with mechanics and material specialists and approves outsourcing as a last resort. Frontier was initially looking to outsource around 130 jobs at its facility in Denver, Colo. to a location in El Salvador, claiming that the move would save money. But the airline eventually agreed to maintain current staffing levels and outsource only if mechanics fail to meet certian performance standards.
