SuperJet Obtains European Part 145 Approval

Europe’s Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the Italian Aeronautical Civil Authority (ENAC) have issued a Part 145 certificate to SuperJet International of Venice. The approval allows SuperJet to perform maintenance, completions and custom design projects for aircraft interiors at the Venice complex. Initial line maintenance services will begin on Airbus A320s until the Sukhoi Superjet 100 comes on line. CEO Alessandro Franzoni says the company is working toward Part 147 certification, which is “necessary for SJI’s training activities, and the DOA (design organization approval), essential to the design and development of VIP and cargo variants on the platform of the Sukhoi Superjet 100.” SJI anticipates Part 147 approval in late 2009.
