Sukhoi Sells 54 Superjets

Sukhoi announced at the Paris Airshow that it signed a deal to deliver 24 of its new Superjet 100s to Avialeasing, a Russian investment finance company, and signed a letter of intent to deliver 30 of the regional jets to Malev Hungarian Airlines, based in Budapest. Deliveries to both customers are to begin in 2011. Sukhoi claims it now has a total of 122 orders for the SSJ100, which currently is in thee process of be certified. Recognizing that times are now tough in commercial aviation, Victor Novikov, vice president of Avialeasing, said he believes “fleet renewals are a must for air carriers.”
