Southwest Mechanics Agree to Contract

Representatives of the Southwest Airlines Pilots’ Association have reached an agreement with the carrier on a four-year deal that includes 3 percent raises form 2009–2011 and 1 percent in 2012. The contract includes a 3 percent ratification bonus. According to the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association, the vote to ratify the contract broke down to 61 percent approving with around 39 percent voting no, with a few workers abstaining. Signing of the agreement is scheduled for Feb. 3 in Dallas, Texas.
