Savannah Service Center Expanding
Gulfstream Aerospace kicked off a second phase of construction at its Savannah service center with a groundbreaking ceremony on Sept. 30. The expansion comprises 348,248 square feet, including a hangar capable of housing up to 18 large-cabin aircraft, as well as repair shops, an engine run-up area and offices. Scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2009, the second phase is part of a seven-year, $400-million complex covering 679,199 square feet. Phase one opened in August 2007. Once the second phase is complete, Gulfstream’s existing 209,000-square-foot service center will become a G650 completions center.
