STG Receives FAA STC
STG Aerospace’s Wireless Emergency Primary Power System (WEPPS) received an FAA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the entire Boeing 737NG family. The patented next generation emergency power system concluded its testing process with flight testing last month. Current emergency lighting system (ELS) power could equate to more than $1 billion each year because of the cost of spares, the difficult maintenance cycle and dispatch delays. WEPPS has a built-in wireless monitoring and diagnostic capability that provides airlines with a “fit for life” solution for battery modules that never requires charging or scheduled maintenance and a means of performing daily check on the entire ELS in less than 10 seconds. The approval data from the FAA STC will now be submitted to EASA for reciprocal approval. Following the Boeing rollout, STG plans to make applications for Airbus and other aircraft. For related news
