SAS Group Engages in Structural Changes
SAS AB’s Board of Directors decided the following: SAS Ground Services will remain an independent subsidiary of the SAS Group, provided that the company can improved a number of quality and profitability targets within 18 months; SAS Technical Services will now conduct heavy maintenance of the Boeing 737 Classic outside Scandinavia; and Spirit Air Cargo Handling (part of SAS Cargo) will be divested. Co-determination negotiations will be conducted with trade unions. According to SAS President and CEO, Mats Jansson, “Implementation of the structural changes will commence immediately. We have taken too long and used too many resources in the structural decision. We have also perceived threats of unlawful action, which shows very clearly that SAS still has a long way to go before we have a corporate culture in place that is adapted to the competitive situation.” For related news
