Qantas Drops Out of Maintenance Deal
Australian carrier Qantas Airways has said it will not go forward with a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed with Malaysian Airlines in December 2007. Qantas had sent a Boeing 737 for maintenance prior to the MOU, but has not used the service since. A spokesperson said that agreement was not binding, adding that due to cutbacks, the airline has no need to send aircraft to Malaysia for maintenance. Most of the maintenance on the Qantas fleet is performed in Australia.
