Plane-Power Kit Gets STC

The Federal Aviation Administration has issued STC/PMA approval for a gear driven generator to alternator conversion kit from Granbury, Texas-based Plane-Power. The ER14-50 is a replacement for existing generators and associated regulators on many Continental engines, including the C-85, C-90, C125, C-145, E-165, E-185, E-225, IO-240, O-200 and O-300A-C. The kit includes a Plane-Power R1224B voltage regulator, alternator and hardware. “Compared to antiquated generators, Plane-Power alternators run cooler, perform far more reliably and supply increased power at or below typical cruise engine RPM,” says Steve Klodd, general manager.
