PW100 MRO Planned in Malaysia
MAS Aerospace Engineering and EADS SECA are teaming up to establish a joint venture for Pratt & Whitney PW100 engines in Malaysia. The MRO will provide engine, airframe and component support for the PW100 series starting in 2010. Malaysia Airlines Executive Director/CFO Tengku Azmil says that there are currently around 100 aircraft flying in the region with PW100s, a number expected to double by 2012. “Our immediate plan is to set up a PW127 engine maintenance and hot section inspection capability. The capability will be extended to line maintenance support and on-site HSI through its mobile repair team,” he says.
