P&W Partners with Turkish Firm
Pratt & Whitney and Kale Havacilik AS, Istanbul, Turkey, have signed a memorandum of understanding at the Paris Airshow. The two companies’ intent is to establish a joint venture partnership to produce aircraft engine components. Kale will be majority partner with 51 percent share of the new company. The JV will specialize in manufacturing hardware for the Lockheed Martin F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. In the future, according to Pratt & Whitney, the Turkish partnership will expand to support complex metal fabrications and spare parts for the F100, F119 and F117 military engines, which power the F-16 and F-15, the F-22 and the C-17, respectively.
