Midwest Sues for Damage

In a 2005 accident, a Midwest Airlines Boeing 717’s left wing struck a weed-spraying truck operated by Fahrner Asphalt at Milwaukee’s Mitchell International Airport causing more than $410,000 worth of damage. Earlier this week, Midwest filed a lawsuit against Fahrner; Wausau Business Insurance Company, which issued Fahrner’s liability policy; Milwaukee County, which operates the airport; and the FAA. The FAA control tower at Mitchell gave Fahrner permission to spray the weeds along the taxiway on the day of the accident and, according to the suit, the tower directed the Midwest jet into the same area where the collision occurred.
