Maintainers to Start A-10 Inspections

U.S. Air Combat Command (ACC) maintainers are taking immediate action to begin inspections on all A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft with thin-skinned wings. Air Force Material Command issued a Time Compliance Technical Order (TCTO) on Oct. 3 ordering the inspections. There are 56 ACC-operated A-10s affected by the TCTO. Major David Ruth from ACC’s A-10 weapons system team notes that on average, the A-10 airframes are 28 years old. “Every weapons system has fatigue of some type. It’s just a matter of identifying it ahead of time and mitigating that through scheduled depot inspections and maintenance,” he adds.
