MTU, Atelier Become MTR Engine Centers
Munich, Germany-based MTU Aero Engines and Atelier d’Industriel Aeronautic (AIA) of Bordeaux, France, have received approval to become “revision centers” for the MTR390-2C engines that power the Franco-German Tiger helicopter. European consortium MTU Turbomeca Rolls-Royce (MTR) certified the two companies after an intensive qualification process. Under the designation, Air Force units will have responsibility for replacing complete engines and engine modules (maintenance levels 1 and 2), while the revision centers will dismantle the modules into component parts and replace them.
