Lynx Helicopters to Receive Engine Retrofit

Rolls-Royce/Honeywell joint venture, the Light Helicopter Turbine Engine Co. (LHTEC), has won a contract to upgrade the UK Army’s Mk.9T Lynx helicopter with CTS800 engines. The two-year agreement also covers spares for 27 engines. It falls under a UK Ministry of Defence urgent operational requirement, which is a provision that speeds up the supply of defense equipment to respond to emerging needs. LHTEC will replace existing Rolls-Royce Gem engines with the CTS800s. Deliveries of the new engines are scheduled to start in March 2009, continuing through the end of 2010.
