Kelly Aerospace to Install Thermawing
Kelly Aerospace Thermal Systems announced that it has received the STC for its Thermawing system on the Columbia 300. New installations on the Columbia line are being completed at the Kelly Thermal Systems Division in Willoughby, Ohio. Additional installation locations will be coming on line throughout this fall. Thermawing is the first all electric system using graphite thermafoil technology and an advanced aircraft de-icing system. The new system provides for instantaneous temperature rise and cool for aircraft surfaces by using expanded flexible graphite foil. This ultra thin laminate is an electrical and heat conducting layer that is disposed between an outer heat conducting layer and an electrically insulating layer. The Thermawing parting strip and shed zone concept virtually eliminates runback and a digital controller automatically operates shedding cycles for “set and forget” safety.
