The JAL Group intends to create a new company comprised of four aircraft maintenance subsidiaries. On Oct 1, 2009, JAL Narita Aircraft Maintenance, JAL Tokyo Aircraft Maintenance, JAL Engine Technologies and JAL Aviation Technologies will join to form JAL Engineering. The JAL Group is combining the companies with the aim of boosting productivity and consolidating technical expertise. JAL Engineering will serve as the main support company for the JAL Group fleet, including Japan Airlines.
