Hydrogen Engine Center, Inc. Unveils Hydrogen Fueled Engines

Don Vanderbrook, vice president and general manager of Hydrogen Engine Center, Inc. (HEC) introduced two new engines targeted to the airport ground support equipment (GSE) market. Vanderbrook stated, "The development of these two engines is in response to the many requests from interested parties worldwide seeking solutions related to the reduction of airport-related air quality issues. "  The first engine being introduced is HEC's first-of-its-kind, 4.9 liter hydrogen-fueled, near-zero-emission engine.  This engine is specifically designed to replace existing gasoline engines which are currently used by airport ground support vehicles and are compatible with C6 transmissions. The second engine being introduced is a soon-to-be-emission-certified version of the 4.9 liter engine scheduled for delivery to the company's distribution network by fourth quarter, 2007.  This engine will be capable of running on compressed natural gas as well as liquid propane.  It is also designed to be easily installed as a new replacement engine for airport ground support vehicles.
