Gulfstream Mechanic Wins Taylor Award

FAA has named Richard Thrasher, a senior airworthiness inspector for Gulfstream Aerospace, the latest recipient of its Charles Taylor Master Mechanic award. The first Gulfstream employee to receive the award, Thrasher has worked in his current position since Feb. 2000. He started out with the U.S. Marine Corps in 1956 as a jet mechanic before joining Gulfstream as a mechanic, crew chief and assistant foreman. Thrasher then worked for Raytheon as a mechanic, maintenance chief and senior flight engineer and was an aircraft consultant before rejoining Gulfstream. A mechanic must have 50 years of experience and 30 years as an A&P to be considered for the Taylor award.
