Gulfstream’s new G650 business jet, which the company rolled out Tuesday at its headquarters in Savannah, Ga., features design elements intended to ease maintenance and reduce out-of-service time. Pres Henne, senior vice president of programs, engineering and test, told a crowd gathered for the unveiling that “three-dimensional electronic design tools were used to design the entire aircraft, facilitating remarkable part precision, allowing ease of assembly and proper placement of components for ease of maintenance and shorter downtimes.” Gulfstream plans to fly the G650 for the first time in late 2009, with certification expected in 2011 and service entry in 2012.
