FAA Issues Fire Extinguisher AD
A new Federal Aviation Administration airworthiness directive (AD) involves a group of fire extinguishers used in various transport aircraft, helicopters and small airplanes. The extinguishers, built by Fire Fighting Enterprises, contain “significant quantities” of Halon 1211 gas, according to a UK Civil Aviation Authority report. The AD, which takes effect on Jan. 20, follows an EASA mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) alert issued to address the problem.
