FAA Certifies Chelton Flight Systems

Under the Organization Designation Authorization (ODA) program for STCs, the FAA certified Chelton Flight Systems. Through this certification, the FAA gives authority to the company to perform its own certification activities under FAA oversight. The ODA was developed last year with the intention of making the certification process safer and more effective and efficient. Manufacturers that receive certification must have experience and a detailed, documented competence in part-by-part compliance with regulatory standards. Chelton is now eligible to apply to the FAA for responsibility for multiple aspects of future certification projects, which minimizes the time and expenses associated with the certification process.
