Emergency Landing Prompts SW Inspections
A Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-300 headed for Baltimore-Washington Intl Airport (BWI) was forced to make an emergency landing last night after a hole opened in the fuselage and the cabin lost pressure, according to the airline. The aircraft took off from Nashville around 4:05 pm and landed in Charleston, W.V. about 50 minutes later, according to reports. Southwest immediately began inspections of its entire fleet of 737-300s. The airline is working with the National Transportation Safety Board and Boeing to determine the cause of the hole, which Southwest officials described as less than the size of a basketball.
