Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer opened its 47,700-square-foot hangar at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport in Arizona on Monday. Dedicated to providing services for Embraer’s business jets — the Phenom 100 and 300, and Legacy 450, 500 and 600 — the $10-million facility consists of hangar, workshop and office space. Services will include maintenance, airframe, engine, avionics and systems repairs, parts, 24-hour assistance and aircraft on ground (AOG) support. Embraer anticipates the center will employ 60 people over the next five years. Edson Carlos Mallaco, VP of customer support and services, executive jets says the Mesa hangar is part of more than $100 million the company is investing in its service and support network.
