Lincoln, Neb.-based Duncan Aviation has decided to delay construction of a 320,000-square-foot aircraft maintenance and repair facility at Provo Municipal Airport (PVU) in Utah. The decision is part of company-wide cutbacks that are related to the worldwide economic downturn. Duncan is planning to cut some production hours and wages, which could affect all of the company’s 2,200 workers, according to the Daily Herald.

Construction on the $58-million Provo expansion was previously scheduled to start in spring 2009, with opening projected in August 2010. Now the timeline appears unclear. Lori Johnson, marketing communications manager, notes that Duncan still plans a presence in Provo over the next two years, “although timing and construction plans will most likely be changing.”
