Delta Announces New Board

From the Atlanta Journal and Constitution:

Delta Air Lines' post-Chapter 11 board of directors will be led by a retired Eastman Kodak chief and include a former CEO of rival Northwest Airlines.Delta on Friday announced the proposed makeup of its new 11-member board, which will include seven new members and four incumbents. The new board will pick Delta's next CEO, who'll replace Gerald Grinstein after his expected retirement this summer. Retired Eastman Kodak chief executive Daniel Carp will be non-executive chairman, the airline said. Former Northwest Airlines CEO Richard H. Anderson, now executive vice president at UnitedHealth Group, is among the outside directors tapped. Anderson's presence on the list could fuel talk of an eventual merger of Delta and Northwest. The two carriers, which have gone through Chapter 11 restructurings at the same time, have been linked in some merger speculation in recent months. But Delta executives have denied pursuing such a deal. Other new directors Delta named are Walter Massey, presidsent of Morehouse College in Atlanta; John S. Brinzo, chairman and former CEO of Cleveland-Cliffs; Eugene I. Davis, chairman and CEO of Pirinate Consulting Group, LLC; Richard K. Goeltz, retired vice chairman and chief financial officer of American Express; and Victor L. Lund, former chairman and CEO of American Stores Company. In addition to Grinstein, current Delta directors who would remain are: Paula Rosput Reynolds, who left Atlanta to serve as president and CEO of Safeco Corporation in Seattle; David R. Goode, retired chairman of Norfolk Southern Corp., and Kenneth B. Woodrow, retired vice chairman Target Corp.
