Construction Begins for Airbus

Lufthansa Technik began building the new Airbus wide body maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility at the Malta International Airport in Luqa. The €55 million facility will include hangars, workshops and offices and is scheduled for completion in 2008, when it will begin operations. Lufthansa will create 500 jobs during the next four to five years because it will specialize in the MRO of Airbus A330 and A340 aircraft. The company currently sponsors more than 60 apprentices who are being trained at the Malta College of Arts Science and Technology. For Related News
