Comair Recognized With Diamond Award
Despite its union woes, Delta Connection carrier Comair has been awarded the FAA’s prestigious Diamond Award for excellence in aviation maintenance training. This is the 12th consecutive year Comair has won the award. In 2005, more than 80 percent of Comair’s maintenance technicians completed the continuous training required to participate in the FAA’s recognition program. The figure is up from 72 percent participation the year before. Comair’s maintenance technicians completed nearly 32,000 hours of safety and technical compliance training in 2005, more than double the 14,000 hours completed in 2004. “It says a great deal about the professionalism and commitment of our maintenance team when you win this award for 12 years running,” said Allen Messnick, Comair vice president of maintenance.
