Coast Guard Extends HC-130J Contract

Lockheed Martin has obtained a $13.25-million extension to modify two more HC-130Js with mission equipment and sensor packages. The U.S. Coast Guard will use the aircraft for maritime search and rescue, law enforcement and homeland security missions. The modifications, which include installation of a belly-mounted surface search radar, a nose-mounted electro-optical/infrared imaging system, a flight deck mission station and communication upgrades, are designed to improve fuel efficiency and boost range and endurance, according to Lockheed Martin.
