China Aircraft Services Opens Mx Hangar
During a May 22 ceremony at Hong Kong Intl Airport (HKG), China Aircraft Services Ltd. (CASL) inaugurated a new 10,000-square-meter (107,639-square-foot) hangar for jet maintenance. Representing a HK$400-million investment, the hangar will have the capacity to handle one widebody aircraft and one narrowbody aircraft at the same time. The complex also features a 10,000-square-meter annex building. CASL officials anticipate hiring more than 200 employees once the center is fully operational. CEO Angus Cheung says that as cost efficiency has become a top agenda item for U.S. and European operators, “it is expected that they will increasingly outsource aircraft maintenance services. CASL will benefit from such trend and we are optimistic about the prospects of the aviation industry.”
