Boeing Settles on 787 Stretch Design
Engineers at Boeing have finalized the configuration for the 787-9 Dreamliner. First delivery of the stretch version of the massive commercial jet is projected in late 2013, with the base 787 set to enter service in the fourth quarter of 2010. Mark Jenks, vice president of 787-9 development, explains that firm configuration of the stretch model “means the airplane’s structural, propulsion and systems architectures are defined and not changing.”
